Joint Effort: Getting ready for a joint replacement
Have you had a diagnosis of osteoarthritis?
Have you been advised that you need to have an operation?
Would you like to be ready and prepared for surgery?
If the answer is yes to any of these questions, then this 4-session programme – ‘Joint Effort: Getting ready for a joint replacement’, will help you prepare both physically and emotionally for your operation. In this programme you will learn what is happening in your body and mind and create a healthy living plan that will help you to live your life to the fullest before and after surgery.
In our time together you will focus on your physical health and lifestyle. Together, we will consider how you move and using a combination of exercise prescription, hands on therapy (as appropriate) and advice you will be able to move as efficiently and comfortably as possible.

We will also discuss how different aspects of your life might influence your symptoms of osteoarthritis and work out how you can find relief from those that do. This will help you to keep fit and healthy in the weeks leading up to your operation. Together we will create a plan that will be individually designed for you to target your specific problems so you will be as strong as you possibly can be. This will ensure your recovery process is as smooth as possible.
Each session is based on a theme (please see below) and will also include time to discuss how you have been getting on, for exercise, hands on therapy (if appropriate) and for questions.
